Brainstorming!!

I decided to try and get some of my thoughts on my inquiry out on paper this afternoon.
At this moment in time my inquiry title is looking likely to be ;

"The importance of Continuous Professional Development within Musical Theatre and how it can impact upon success with in the industry"

Still playing around with words but that is the basic principle. I have done two brainstorms one which explores different aspects that I feel link together to help create a strong base for CPD another which looks at who my inquiry will effect why I want to do it and the objectives I have!

Please take a look and let me know what you think. I may have missed out some important links or something you feel is worth while exploring. I am hoping these will help me form a basis into which I can create, surveys and interviews etc!

Exploring different aspects!

Who, why and objectives!

If you click on them they will enlarge!

  1. Both your diagrams are great! They are both easy to read and straight to the point which makes it a lot easier to digest! They will be great to use in the future to refer back to! I've had a good think myself about the aspects explored here and I'm actually finding it hard to think of anything you've missed off! Maybe these objectives could be shown to college graduates? It gives them an idea of what's ahead of them and maybe gets them thinking so they are more prepared for this industry! It would be very beneficial for them!

  2. Good - can you relate these diagrams to any of the theories about networked introduced in Module 1 - or any that you have subsequently looked in to as a part of your literature for Module 2? You could also think of focusing in on the type of CPD you are thinking about... maybe using your brainstorming as a guide - you could think of sub-questions that are more specific?

  3. Hi Paula yes I have been looking into that and trying to form some links and re awaken what we touched upon then and following it up with some further reading. Regarding more specific questions I thought about looking into the importance of CPD within Musical theatre after graduating focusing on further training and how it can impact on your success with in the industry? How ever its all very wordy! Not sure if its appropriate as a title for my inquiry? As all my ideas on the brainstorm link into this area and some of the feedback I have had is that the likes of my professional artefact and report will benefit not only current professionals but new graduates too. Perhaps if this was focussed on more in my third year a lot of my friends may have had more motivation and not given up?

    Also Mel thanks for your feedback it has also got me thinking!!

  4. Hi Hannah, I really like the way you are developing your main ideas in to a fine tuned basis for the inquiry. It is so releveant to you and the rest of us on BAPP so the SIGs should be proving a huge helping hand. I too have developed my thinking, broadening the scope from transitions...to the support systems and guidance that is sought and available for professionals who, with the links to CPD and other aspects are enagaing in a shift in direction. Hoping to discover what people have experienced so far with their career transition/career development I aim to identify the sources and agencies (suchs as DCD)of support that are out there pre, during and post transition. I too agree that the awareness of such ideas and options of change should be brought to the performer sooner, within the training would be ideal. I dont think that I would have been as shell shocked if the circumstantial change did infact occur and change my carer path. (I say option as change can be seen in a negative view as once faced with possible circumstantial change, for instance, where injury threatens a lasting career. Personally if I had been made aware of the possibilities I could have looked in to the positives and 'chosen' a development in order to have the life long career in my practice at a time where i faced injury)
    I know this is only one example where support is needed...
    With regards to the title, as Paula has said maybe look further into a certain area of CPD where you can investigate further, more specifically?

    I do hope that we can share ideas on these topics. please give feedback into my inquiry, I would like to hear your views .
    Best wishes, Hayley
